Craig River Park is the future of outdoor life in Northwest Colorado. Officially known as the Yampa River Corridor Project, this multi-phase development reclaims a once-overlooked stretch of the Yampa River and turns it into Craig’s newest public treasure—where trails, whitewater, play areas, and community gatherings all come together along Colorado’s last free-flowing river.
It’s designed for everyone—families, paddlers, nature lovers, and small business owners—because this park is more than a place to explore. It’s a new way to live connected.
- Two engineered whitewater drop features for tubing, kayaking, and play
- Trails, shaded gathering spaces, and nature-based play areas
- Bank-side amphitheater and picnic shelter facilities
- ADA-accessible restrooms and infrastructure
- A new boat ramp and expanded parking at Loudy Simpson Park
- Native landscaping and ecological restoration of the riverbank

Craig River Park represents more than physical improvements. It is a community-built answer to a changing economy and a shared vision for the future. It reflects Craig’s identity—authentic, resilient, and rooted in place. And it’s already making an impact.
This project supports Craig’s transition from coal to outdoor recreation, small business, and tourism. It gives families a place to gather, visitors a reason to stay, and local entrepreneurs a reason to grow.
